  • Eastern
  • Continental
  • Western
  • Semi-western
  • Eastern backhand
  • Continental backhand
  • Fingers-up
  • Knuckles-Down

As you advance in the game there are even more… For now let’s take a look at 2 of the most used grips.

Eastern

This is the most common grip when transitioning from tennis or to use as a beginner.

Place your hand on the handle of the paddle so that the base knuckle of your index finger is on the top of the handle. Your other fingers should be wrapped around the handle, and your thumb should be on the backside of the handle.

Continental

Place your hand on the handle so that your base knuckle of your index finger is on the right edge of the paddle. Your other fingers should be wrapped around the handle, and your thumb should be on the backside of the handle.
